Energy Day
Sunday, 23 May 2010
you may all say that this post means nothing as you all actually know what it is but i would like to make it more clearer.

What is Energy Day Or Week?

it is an amount of time where an organization or government take an action that is aiming on the public to be involved in a variety of activities that is related to reduce the amount of energy usage to use energy provided efficiently.

What has Brunei Darussalam plan for this years Energy Day?

this year is a new change as of Monday,24th May 2010.Brunei Darussalam Petrol Stations are going to sell Fuel at a non-subsidised rate in creating an awareness for people to change their lifestyle of wasting energy easily. We as a country which is blessed with petrol that has been subsidies which means we are buying a much more cheaper fuel rate than most countries. This should be taking in considerate by using it carefully as we might not know when there will be no more oil and gas production. An eSaving SOS Campaign was also initiated by the government to create an environment that actually practice Energy saving in the daily lifestyle.

What is eSaving SOS Campaign?

it is a simple step campaign that is initiated to reduce energy consumption ,they are as follow:-

1) Switch Off Unnecessary Light
what it means is that people are encouraged to switch off their light when leaving a room so you are not wasting energy. If we spend less time leaving the light on,the more energy you are saving by doing that. Also consider in actually just leave at least two lights in the house to be on.If there is a light in the house that people always forget to switch off like when leaving the toilet, you would always leave the light on.Why not consider to put a sticker on it that reminds you to switch it off when exiting the toilet or any other place like the bedroom too.

2) Switch Off Water Heater When Not in Use

It is actually a wastage of energy of keeping the water heater on when you are actually using it on mornings or evenings. Why not actually just switch it on a few minutes before you take a shower.Another way is also by taking shorter hot showers as the longer you use it,the more there is energy wastage. As water heaters take up to 25% of your home's energy use

3) Set Your Air Conditioner Temperature to 24 degrees Celsius or Higher than usual

Whether you have got a high horsepower air conditioner or a low one, when it is at the right temperature. It can actually maximise you energy consumption and increasing your energy savings. To start making a better energy saving, you can increase the air conditioner's thermostat by 1 degree or setting it to 24 degrees which is actually comfortable enough if you would like a moderate cool room.why would you want a cold room when you can make it just right enough so you could enjoy the cool air.

Last but not least,i hope that you all learned something from this post.I hope everyone would take part in saving energy.Start doing something rather than just telling everyone to do it.
